Kendrick Mattox joined the Edge team as a Partner and Senior Investment Advisor, and opened our Charlotte office in 2011. In addition to operating as a Senior Advisor on relationships, Kendrick serves as a Portfolio Manager and designs, implements, and monitors investment portfolios for our private and institutional clients. He has the unique combination of experience in both the quantitative and qualitative aspects of portfolio management.
Born in LaGrange, Georgia, Kendrick attended the Woodberry Forest School in Virginia, where he met his friend and Edge colleague, Harry Jones. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hampden-Sydney College, and his MBA from Georgia State University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and a member of the CFA North Carolina Society.
Kendrick was drawn to the investment industry by a genuine desire to help people. He believes some of the best moments of his career have included helping his clients endure and even prosper during some of the industry’s most difficult times.
Kendrick enjoys golf and is an avid outdoorsman who loves hunting and all types of fishing, and he hopes to one day catch a permit (a type of game fish) on a fly rod. He loves to read and considers non-fiction and biographies, especially those about overcoming obstacles and challenges, among his favorites. Kendrick is also a passionate advocate for victims of child abuse, and serves on the board of Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center in Charlotte. In addition, Kendrick is a board member of the Fletcher School, President of the Woodberry Forest School Charlotte Regional Alumni Association, as well as on the Investment Committee for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte Endowment, and on the Finance Committee for the Charlotte Country Club.
