As a Director, Portfolio Manager, and member of Edge Capital’s Research Team, Howell Hollis studies capital markets and evaluates investment strategies to propose and implement suitable portfolios for clients. He communicates economic and financial market analysis to other members of the Edge Research Team to formulate a consensus view to be used in managing client assets. Howell leads Edge’s strategic asset allocation recommendation process, and serves as tactical asset class lead for International Developed Equities, Real Assets, and Alternatives. In addition, he provides equity research coverage on several industries for the Blue Current Global Equity Dividend strategies.
Born and raised in Atlanta, Howell attended the University of Virginia where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and was a member of the Men’s Rugby Team. He spent the next eight years working in investment banking, initially in capital markets structuring and origination, and later in institutional sales & trading. In 2010, he transitioned his career to investment management by attending the University of Texas at Austin where he received a Master of Business Administration in Finance and was a student portfolio manager for the MBA Investment Fund, LLC. Howell has earned the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA®) designation and is Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) Level III candidate.
Outside of Edge, Howell volunteers for the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, the Piedmont Park Conservancy, Atlanta Charity Clays, and Bonefish & Tarpon Trust. He enjoys the outdoors and is an avid hunter and fisherman. Howell likes to travel, watch films, and attend music concerts. He pulls for the Georgia Bulldogs and has been attending their football games with family and friends since he was very young.
